Nelson, Susan T.  --   Mercerville, NJ 08619, Belln@aol.com. or Belln@markbellz.com., B.A., Music, Rutgers University.  Susan became involved with handbells while employed as Director of Music at Advent Lutheran Church in Trenton, NJ.  The church decided to purchase a 2 octave set in 1989 to commemorate their 100th anniversary and asked if she would be willing to direct.  Alas, she was instantly and permanently hooked!  She attended seminars at Westminster, joined AGEHR and attended Guild workshops and festivals to further her studies.  The program she founded quickly grew from one 2 octave choir to two adult handbell choirs and one children's handchime choir.  Susan began writing for handbells shortly thereafter, had her first piece accepted for publication in 1991 and now has numerous compositions and arrangements in print.  She has been Secretary for the Central New Jersey Handbell Festival since 1994, and worked as Historian on the Area II Board. As a clinician, she has taught seminars on the local, state and regional level.  She also teaches piano, handbells, guitar and recorder privately and is a Library Technical Assistant at Westminster Choir College.  Susan is currently employed as Director of Music at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hamilton Twp., NJ, where she serves as organist and directs a thriving vocal and handbell program.
